I had the chance to work on an extra curricular project with the TV students in the National Film School. I created a wheel of fortune, or “octagon” of fortune, for their comedy talk show.
This was my first time creating a prop like this and had to adapt to the materials that were available to me in college to create the piece. I recycled a piece of wood that I found in the college store, and painted it into the colours that we selected.
Using a band saw I cut out an arrow which would spin around and stop in different categories on the wheel.
The letters were designed and laser cut by the production designer on the project, and I stuck them onto the wheel to finish.
We used an easel to prop the wheel up as the studio did not have suitable rigging to elevate it.
